He appeared in over 70 films and TV shows throughout his career. Some of his notable performances include the role of Baron Rosenberg in the Danish classic film "Matador" and the role of the King in the 1984 movie "Gertrud". Hahn-Petersen was also a successful stage actor, performing in numerous productions in Denmark and abroad. He was the recipient of several awards for his contributions to Danish theatre and film, including the Knight's Cross of the Order of the Dannebrog in 1984.
