Asta Nielsen was one of the most prominent actresses during the silent film era in Europe. She appeared in over 70 films and became famous for her naturalistic acting style and captivating on-screen presence. Her breakthrough film was "Afgrunden" (The Abyss) released in 1910, directed by Danish filmmaker Urban Gad, whom she later married.
