Hector Abbas (November 9, 1884 Amsterdam-November 11, 1942 London) was a Dutch actor.
He gained popularity for his roles in silent films during the 1920s, and later became a prominent actor in Dutch theatre during the 1930s. Abbas made more than 50 films during his career, including the classic Dutch film "Silent Waters" (1932), which is considered a landmark in Dutch cinema.
During the German occupation of the Netherlands in World War II, Abbas was forced to flee to London where he worked for the Dutch government in exile as a broadcaster for Radio Oranje. Sadly, he died just two days after his 58th birthday when he was hit by a bomb fragment. Abbott was posthumously awarded the Resistance Commemorative Cross for his bravery during the war. Today he is remembered as one of the most influential actors in Dutch cinema history.
