Piet Römer (April 2, 1928 Amsterdam-January 17, 2012 Amsterdam) a.k.a. Petrus Römer, Piet Romer or Römer, Piet was a Dutch actor. His children are called Peter Römer, Han Römer, Anne Römer, Bart Römer and Paul Römer.
Piet Römer is best known for his portrayal of the Amsterdam police detective De Cock (pronounced "de kook") in the long-running television series "Baantjer." He played the lead role for over a decade, from 1995 until 2006. Römer began his acting career in 1950 at the age of 22 and appeared in numerous Dutch films and television shows. He also performed on stage in various theater productions. In addition to his acting work, Römer was a talented painter and exhibited his artwork in several galleries throughout the Netherlands. He was recognized for his contributions to Dutch culture and acting, and in 2000, Römer was awarded a knighthood in the Order of the Netherlands Lion.

He was known for his work in different fields like literature, broadcasting, and music. After working as a journalist for several years, he began writing novels and short stories, and his work received critical acclaim from literary critics in the Netherlands. In addition to his literary work, he wrote song lyrics for various popular Dutch singers, including Rob de Nijs and Liesbeth List. Some of his notable works include the novel "Het Absentieveen" and the short story collection "Het Meisje Met Het Rode Haar". De Boer was also a founding member of the Dutch Society for Literature.
