He appeared in over 100 films during the silent era and was known for his charismatic on-screen presence. Ray started his career as a bit player in the early 1910s, but quickly rose to fame with his starring role in the film "The Coward" (1915). He became one of the most popular actors of the era, known for his boyish good looks and All-American charm.
In addition to acting, Ray directed and produced numerous films throughout his career. He founded his own production company, Charles Ray Productions, in 1919 and released a string of successful films. Amrapurkar began his acting career in the Marathi theatre industry and later transitioned to Bollywood, where he gained recognition for his versatile performances. He was known for his powerful portrayals of negative characters and won critical acclaim for his role as Maharani, a eunuch in the 1991 film "Sadak." Amrapurkar also appeared in several other successful Bollywood films including "Aankhen," "Ishq," and "Coolie No. 1." Sardana also wrote and produced for other well-known British shows such as "Sherlock Holmes" and "Downtown Abbey". Prior to his work in television, Sardana had an acting career which included appearances in films such as "The Living Daylights" and "Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom". He was known for his creativity, dedication and attention to detail and was highly regarded by his colleagues in the industry. Sadly, Sardana passed away in London in 2009 at the age of 40.
