She began her career as a singer in Toronto, performing in various nightclubs and bars. McKinnon eventually transitioned to acting and landed a number of notable roles on both stage and screen. She appeared in popular Canadian TV shows such as Street Legal and The Beachcombers, as well as in films like The Changeling and The Amateur. McKinnon was also a gifted singer and released her first album, Patrician Anne McKinnon, in 1972. She continued to perform music throughout her acting career and often incorporated it into her stage performances. Sadly, McKinnon passed away in 2001 at the age of 53 after battling cancer.
