She was born in Toronto, Canada to a Chinese father and a mother of Dutch and Irish descent. Loo moved to Hong Kong at the age of four and later pursued a career in music, becoming one of the most prominent figures in the city's indie music scene. She was best known as the lead vocalist and guitarist of the band at17, which she formed with guitarist Chet Lam in 2001. Loo released several solo albums in addition to her work with at17, and was also recognized for her work as an MC at concerts and music festivals. She was a vocal advocate for LGBT rights, and publicly came out as a lesbian in 2017. Unfortunately, Loo passed away in 2018 at the age of 32, having struggled with depression and bipolar disorder. Her legacy continues to inspire and influence many in the Hong Kong music industry.
