After Mortal disbanded, Fontamillas went on to work with various artists in the Christian and mainstream music scenes, including producing and playing for MewithoutYou and The Almost. In 2003, he joined Switchfoot, taking over the keyboard and guitar duties. Fontamillas has been an integral part of the band's sound and success, contributing to their hit albums such as "The Beautiful Letdown," "Nothing is Sound," "Oh! Gravity," and "Vice Verses."
