Marguerite Deval

Marguerite Deval (September 19, 1866 Strasbourg-December 18, 1955 Paris) a.k.a. Marguerite Brulfer de Valcourt or Marguerite Hippolyte Juliette Brulfer was a French actor, singer, comedian and opera singer.

She began her career as a singer in the opera, and then went on to become an actress in the theater. She made her film debut in 1913, and went on to appear in over fifty films throughout her career. Deval was known for her versatility, and she played a wide range of roles, from comedic to dramatic. She also wrote several plays, novels and memoirs, and was an active member of the French Resistance during World War II. Deval was awarded the Legion of Honor and the Croix de Guerre for her work during the war. She died in Paris at the age of 89.
