Theo Angelopoulos

Theo Angelopoulos (April 27, 1935 Athens-January 24, 2012 Piraeus) also known as Theo, Theodoros "Theo" Angelopoulos, Thodoros Angelopoulos or Théo Angelopoulos was a Greek film director, screenwriter, film producer and actor. He had three children, Katerina Angelopoulou, Anna Angelopoulou and Eleni Angelopoulou.

Angelopoulos studied law at the University of Athens, but eventually dropped out to pursue a career in film. He began his career as a film critic, and later went on to direct his own films. His films were known for their long takes, slow pacing, and political themes. Angelopoulos won numerous awards throughout his career, including the Palme d'Or at the Cannes Film Festival for his film "Eternity and a Day." He was considered one of the most important and influential Greek filmmakers of all time. tragically, Angelopoulos was killed in a motorcycle accident in 2012 while working on his final film, "The Other Sea."
