Lo Lieh was a prominent figure in Hong Kong cinema during the 1970s, known for his roles in martial arts films such as "The One-Armed Swordsman" and "Five Fingers of Death". He was considered a pioneer in the genre, paving the way for future action stars like Bruce Lee and Jackie Chan. In addition to acting, Lo also directed a number of films, including "Black Magic 2" and "The Mighty Peking Man". Later in his career, he became interested in Buddhism and spent time as a monk.
