István Bálint (July 11, 1943 Budapest-October 11, 2007 Budapest) otherwise known as Istvan Balint, Stefan Balint or Stephan Balint was a Hungarian actor and writer. He had one child, Eszter Balint.

István Bálint began his career in the theatre, performing in various productions throughout Hungary. He later ventured into film, appearing in over 20 movies. Some of his notable performances include his role in the film "Love Film" (1970) and in the film "Angi Vera" (1979), for which he received the Best Actor Award at the Hungarian Film Festival.

Aside from his acting career, István Bálint was also a successful writer. He wrote several plays, screenplays, and novels. His most notable work is the screenplay for the film "Time Stands Still" (1982), which won the Grand Prix at the Cannes Film Festival.

István Bálint's contributions to the arts in Hungary have been recognized through various awards and honors, including the Kossuth Prize, one of the most prestigious awards in Hungary. He passed away in 2007 at the age of 64.
