Edith Meller

Edith Meller (September 16, 1897 Budapest-October 18, 1953 Berlin) was a Hungarian actor.

She began her career at the age of 16, appearing on stage in Budapest. Meller then moved to Vienna, Austria where she gained popularity for her performances in operettas. She made her film debut in the Austrian film "End of the Dynasty" in 1920, and went on to star in several German and Austrian films throughout the 1920s and 1930s. Her most notable role was in the 1930 film "Die Drei von der Tankstelle" (The Three from the Filling Station).

Meller's career came to a halt when the Nazis took control of Germany and the film industry in 1933. As a Jewish actress, she was no longer able to work in Germany and fled to Austria. In 1938, she emigrated to the United States and continued to act in films there, but her success was limited. She returned to Europe in 1952 and settled in Berlin, where she died the following year of a heart attack at the age of 56.
