Éva Szörényi (May 26, 1917 Budapest-December 1, 2009 Studio City) also known as Éva Soreny, Eva Soreny or Lersch Elvira was a Hungarian actor. Her children are called István Örményi Jr., Tamás Örményi and Gábor Örményi.
Before embarking on her acting career, Éva Szörényi studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Budapest. She made her debut on stage in 1937 and appeared in several productions before the outbreak of World War II. During the war, she and her family went into hiding to avoid persecution as Jews.
After the war, Szörényi continued her acting career, appearing in numerous films, TV shows, and plays in Hungary. In 1956, she and her family fled Hungary after the Soviet Union's invasion and settled in Vienna before eventually moving to the United States.
In the US, Szörényi continued to act, mainly in supporting roles, appearing in films like "The Producers" and "The Great White Hope." She also performed in several plays, including "Cabaret" and "The Diary of Anne Frank."

Some of her most notable screen roles include that of Aunt Anna in the popular Hungarian film "A Tanú" (The Witness) and Frau Schowalter in the German-Hungarian co-production "Hanussen."
