Persis Khambatta

Persis Khambatta (October 2, 1948 Mumbai-August 18, 1998 Mumbai) also known as Persis Khambata was an Indian actor.

She began her career as a model, winning the Miss India title in 1965. Khambatta then went on to become a popular face in the Indian entertainment industry, appearing in several Hindi, Tamil and Telugu movies in the 1970s.

In 1979, Khambatta achieved international recognition for her role as Lieutenant Ilia in the Hollywood film "Star Trek: The Motion Picture". She became the first Indian woman to have a major role in a Hollywood movie.
