She appeared in over 100 Marathi and Hindi films, and is best known for her roles in Marathi films such as "Sant Gyaneshwar" and "Sawat Majhi Ladki". Gadkar started her career in acting in 1959 with V. Shantaram's film "Navrang". She also acted in the historical TV series, "Raja Shivchatrapati". Gadkar was recognized for her contributions to the Marathi film industry with the V. Shantaram Lifetime Achievement Award in 2005. She passed away in 2008 due to heart failure.
