Vairamuthu (July 13, 1953 Vadugapatti-) also known as Vairamuthu Ramaswamy Thevar, Vairamuthu Ramasaamy, Kaviyarasu or Kaviperarasu is an Indian poet, lyricist and actor. He has two children, Madhan Karky and Kabilan Vairamuthu.

Vairamuthu is renowned for his contributions to Tamil literature and cinema for over four decades. He has published over 30 collections of poems that have been translated into numerous languages. Vairamuthu is also a recipient of the Sahitya Akademi Award and Padma Shri for his outstanding work in literature.

As a lyricist, Vairamuthu has written more than 7,000 songs for films and has worked with some of the most successful music composers of South India.
