Madan Mohan (June 25, 1924 Erbil-July 14, 1975 Mumbai) otherwise known as late shri Madan Mohan, The Ghazal King, The Late Madan Mohan, Madan Mohan Kohli or Madan Kohli was an Indian film score composer, composer and music director. He had one child, Sanjeev Kohli.

Madan Mohan was born as Madan Mohan Kohli in Erbil, Iraq where his father was serving in the British Indian Army. He spent his early childhood in Iraq before moving to India with his family. He started his career as a radio announcer and music teacher in Lucknow. Madan Mohan made his debut as a music composer in the film Aankhen in 1950. He went on to compose music for numerous hit films including Haqeeqat, Chirag, Mera Saaya and Heer Ranjha.
Madan Mohan was known for his melodious compositions and was a pioneer in the use of orchestration in Indian film music. He was greatly influenced by Western classical music and often incorporated classical elements in his music. Madan Mohan's collaboration with Lata Mangeshkar produced some of the most popular songs in Indian film industry. He was honored with several awards during his lifetime including the Filmfare Award for Best Music Director for the film Woh Kaun Thi.
Madan Mohan passed away at the age of 51 due to liver disease. He left behind a rich legacy of soulful music and is considered one of the greatest music directors in the history of Indian cinema.
