She made her acting debut in 1958 and went on to appear in over 100 films and television dramas in her career spanning over five decades. Arita was known for her roles in popular television shows such as "Yoshitsune" and "O-Edo Sosamo," as well as lending her voice to numerous anime and dubbing projects. She also received acclaim for her performances on stage and was an active member of the theater community. Arita was awarded the Medal with Purple Ribbon by the Japanese government for her contributions to the performing arts in 1999.
