Joseph Olita

Joseph Olita (November 27, 2014 Kenya-June 1, 2014 Nyang’oma Kogelo) was a Kenyan actor.

He is best known for his role as Ugandan dictator Idi Amin in the 1981 film "Rise and Fall of Idi Amin". Olita was not initially considered for the role but was discovered by the filmmakers while working as a night watchman in Nairobi.

After the success of "Rise and Fall of Idi Amin", Olita continued to act in several Kenyan films and theater productions. He also became a political activist and ran for political office in his home region of Siaya.

Olita passed away on June 1, 2014 in Nyang’oma Kogelo at the age of 70, leaving behind a legacy as one of Kenya's most iconic actors.
