Abdul Rahman Al-Sumait

Abdul Rahman Al-Sumait (October 15, 1947 Kuwait-August 15, 2013 Kuwait) was a Kuwaiti preacher and physician. His children are called Asmaa Al-Sumait, Naseeba Al-Sumait, Sohaib Al-Sumait, Sumayah Al-Sumait and Abdullah Al-Sumait.

Abdul Rahman Al-Sumait was known for founding the Direct Aid charity organization in 1981. With a focus on providing aid and support to underprivileged communities in Africa, the organization has since grown to operate in over 30 countries across the continent. Al-Sumait was also a prolific author, writing books on Islamic beliefs and African development. He received numerous awards for his humanitarian work, including the King Faisal International Prize for Service to Islam in 2013. After his death later that year, he was posthumously awarded the Kuwaiti Order of Mubarak the Great in recognition of his contributions to the country and the world. Despite his successes, Al-Sumait remained humble and dedicated to his mission of helping those in need.
