Socorro Avelar (November 27, 2014 Cuernavaca-February 11, 2003 Mexico City) was a Mexican actor.

He began his acting career in the theater and eventually moved to film and television. Avelar appeared in over 50 films and television shows throughout his career. His most notable roles include "Acorralado" and "El Infierno". Avelar was recognized for his versatile acting skills and was highly regarded by his peers in the Mexican film industry. He was also an active member of the Actors’ Union of Mexico and worked to improve the rights and working conditions for Mexican actors. Avelar passed away in 2003 at the age of 88, leaving behind a legacy as one of Mexico's most beloved and talented actors.
