Abbas began his career in the film industry in the 1950s and quickly gained popularity for his acting skills. Some of his most notable roles include "Koel" (1959), "Sarfarosh" (1964), and "Chakori" (1967). He later went on to establish his own production company, Darpan Films, which produced several successful films in the 1970s.

Abbas was recognized for his contributions to the film industry with multiple awards, including the Nigar Award for Best Actor in 1969 and the Pride of Performance Award in 1974. He was also a prominent member of the Lahore Arts Council and played a key role in promoting art and culture in Pakistan.
