Achala Sachdev

Achala Sachdev (May 3, 1920 Peshawar-April 30, 2012 Pune) a.k.a. Achala Sachdeo, Achala Sachdeva, Achla, Achala Sachadev, Achla Sachdev or Achla Sachdeo was a Pakistani actor. She had one child, Jyotin Peters.

Achala Sachdev was best known for her portrayal of the character of Balraj Sahni's wife in the classic Hindi film "Waqt" (1965). She also appeared in other popular Hindi films like "Mera Naam Joker" (1970), "Hare Rama Hare Krishna" (1971), and "Andaz" (1971), among others. Sachdev started her acting career in the 1940s with the film "Fashionable Wife" (1940) and went on to act in over 130 films in a career spanning several decades. She was honored with the prestigious Padma Shri award in 2005 for her contributions to Indian cinema. Apart from being an accomplished actor, Sachdev was also a trained classical singer and a philanthropist who was actively involved in social causes.

Salma Mumtaz

Salma Mumtaz (November 27, 2014 Jalandhar-January 21, 2012 Lahore) was a Pakistani actor, dancer, film director and film producer. She had one child, Nida Mumtaz.

Salma Mumtaz was born in Jalandhar, India in 1931 and moved to Lahore after the partition of India in 1947. She began her career as a dancer in stage shows and later transitioned to acting in films. She made her film debut in the 1952 film "Sarfarosh" and went on to star in over 200 films in a career spanning five decades. She was known for her performances in films like "Anjuman," "Mausam," and "Mera Naam Hai Mohabbat."

In addition to acting, Salma Mumtaz was also a film director and producer. She directed and produced the film "Society Girl" in 1966 under her own production banner, Salma Productions. She was one of the few women in the Pakistani film industry to hold these positions.

Salma Mumtaz was married to film director M. Akram, who passed away in 1967. She continued to act in films even after his death and received the Nigar Award for Best Supporting Actress for her role in the 1972 film "Tehzeeb."

She passed away in Lahore in 2012 at the age of 81.
