H. F. Maltby (November 25, 1880 Ceres, Western Cape-October 25, 1963 Hove) a.k.a. Henry Francis Maltby or Henry F. Maltby was a South African screenwriter, actor, playwright, military officer, author and writer.

He began his writing career in Johannesburg, where he worked as a journalist and contributed to local publications. His career as a playwright was highly successful, with several of his plays being performed in theaters across South Africa. He also served as a military officer during World War I, and his experiences during the war inspired much of his writing. In addition to his work in theater, Maltby also wrote novels and short stories, many of which focused on the experiences of soldiers and their families. He later moved to England, where he continued to write and work as a screenwriter and actor in British films.
