She obtained a degree in Speech and Drama from the University of Cape Town and went on to perform in various theatrical productions in South Africa before moving to London in the 1950s. In London, she appeared in numerous productions with the Royal Shakespeare Company, and won critical acclaim for her performances in plays such as "Troilus and Cressida" and "The Changeling". Lowe also appeared in several films and television shows, including "The Avengers" and "The Saint". She was known for her distinctive voice and commanding stage presence, and was regarded as one of the finest actors of her generation.
