Malik Bendjelloul (September 14, 1977 Ystad-May 13, 2014 Stockholm) also known as Malik Bendjelloul Deauville or Malle was a Swedish film director, actor, film editor, screenwriter and film producer.

He rose to international fame with his 2012 documentary "Searching for Sugar Man", which won numerous awards including an Academy Award for Best Documentary Feature. The film tells the story of Sixto Rodriguez, an American musician who became a folk hero in South Africa during the apartheid era despite being virtually unknown in his own country.

Bendjelloul started his career as a child actor in Sweden and later worked as a TV host and foreign correspondent for Swedish public television. After quitting his job in journalism, he traveled the world on a shoestring budget, filming short documentaries about people and places he encountered. "Searching for Sugar Man" was his first feature-length film, and its success took him by surprise.
