John W. Brunius
John W. Brunius (December 26, 1884 Stockholm-December 16, 1937 Stockholm) was a Swedish actor, film director and screenwriter. His child is Anne-Marie Brunius.
Brunius began his career as a stage actor in Sweden, but later transitioned to film in the early 1910s. He directed several films for Svenska Biografteatern, including "Häxan" (1922), which was a ground-breaking horror film for its time. After a falling out with Svenska Biografteatern, Brunius formed his own production company, which produced films such as "Karl XII" (1925) and "Gösta Berlings saga" (1924), which starred Greta Garbo in one of her earliest roles.
Brunius was known for his innovative filmmaking techniques and was one of the pioneers of Swedish cinema. He also acted in many of the films he directed, often playing the lead role. Brunius was one of the few directors in the silent era who continued to work during the transition to sound films in the late 1920s and early 1930s.

He began his career as an actor in the 1920s, appearing in a number of Swedish films including "Dollar" (1938) and "Gubben kommer" (1939).
