Karin Swanström (June 13, 1873 Norrköping-July 5, 1942 Stockholm) also known as Karin Svanström or Karin Swanstrom was a Swedish actor, film director and film producer.

Born in Norrköping, Sweden in 1873, Karin Swanström was introduced to the arts at a young age. She spent much of her early life on stage, honing her acting skills in theaters throughout Sweden. In 1912, she made her film debut in Mauritz Stiller's “Mimer's House”.

Over the course of her film career, Swanström became known for her versatility and range as an actor. She played everything from tragic heroines to comedic foils, and worked with some of cinema's most celebrated directors, including Victor Sjöström and Mauritz Stiller.

In addition to her acting work, Swanström also directed and produced films. Her directorial debut came in 1920 with the film “The Wings,” which she also produced. She went on to direct several more films throughout the 1920s and 1930s.

Her real name was Signe Elisabet Ericsson and she was the daughter of the composer August Söderman.
