She was born in Geneva, Switzerland and began her career in Paris, France during the 1930s. Burney appeared in over 80 films throughout her career, including "Quai des Orfèvres" and "The Longest Day". She was also a prominent theater actress in both France and Switzerland, starring in productions such as "L'École des femmes" and "Volpone". Burney was fluent in French, German, and English, and was known for her talent in accents and dialects. She retired from acting in the 1980s and lived her remaining years in Le Perray-en-Yvelines, where she passed away at the age of 88.
