Vajiravudh was the sixth monarch of Siam from 1910 until his death in 1925. He was educated in England and was known for his love of sports, particularly field hockey and football. During his reign, he modernized the country by implementing social, educational, and legal reforms. He also established the Thai Red Cross Society and declared war on Germany during World War I. Vajiravudh was also a prolific writer and is considered one of Thailand's most important literary figures. He wrote many plays, novels, and poems, and also translated Shakespearean works into Thai.
