Humberto Fernández Morán
Humberto Fernández Morán (February 18, 1924 Maracaibo-March 17, 1999 Stockholm) otherwise known as Humberto Fernandez Moran was a Venezuelan biologist and scientist.
He is best known for his groundbreaking work in electron microscopy, through which he made significant contributions to the field of biophysics and the understanding of cell structure. Moran received his undergraduate degree from the Central University of Venezuela and went on to study at the University of London and the University of Paris.
In addition to his work in electron microscopy, Moran also contributed to the development of several medical technologies, including the ultracentrifuge and the freeze-fracture electron microscope. His work in these fields led to numerous publications and awards throughout his career, including the National Prize for Sciences in Venezuela and the John Scott Award from the City of Philadelphia.
Moran spent much of his later years at the Karolinska Institute in Stockholm, Sweden, where he served as a professor and conducted extensive research in the field of neuroscience.
