Gordon was born in New York City in 1884 and started his acting career on stage. He later transitioned to films and became a prolific actor in the 1920s and 1930s, often playing aristocratic villains and authority figures. Some of his most notable roles include the villainous Count Mora in the horror classic "Mark of the Vampire" (1935) and the ruthless gangster Big Boy in "G-Men" (1935). Gordon was also known for his distinctive deep voice and sophisticated demeanor. He passed away in 1940 in Los Angeles at the age of 56.
