Michael Johns (October 20, 1978 Perth-August 1, 2014 Tustin) also known as Michael John Lee was an Australian songwriter and singer.

His albums: Michael Johns, Hold Back My Heart, Across the Universe, Now or Never, Don't Look Down: The Height of Competition, We Will Rock You / We Are the Champions, A Day in the Life, Love & Sex EP, Dream On and Day Breaks Sun. Genres: Rock music, Pop music, Soft rock, Pop rock and Soul music.

Michael Johns gained fame through his appearance on the seventh season of American Idol, where he finished in eighth place. Prior to his American Idol stint, Johns was a successful artist in Australia, having been the frontman of The Rising, a band that had a top 40 hit in Australia.

In addition to his music career, Johns also appeared on several television shows, including Australian drama series, McLeod's Daughters. He also co-hosted a radio show in Nashville, Tennessee.

Sadly, on August 1, 2014, Johns passed away unexpectedly due to a blood clot in his ankle. He was survived by his wife, Stacey Vuduris, and their two children. Following his death, many of his fellow American Idol alums paid tribute to him, with Ryan Seacrest describing him as "a great talent and [a] great friend".
