He co-founded the heavy metal band GWAR in 1984 and became known for his outrageous on-stage persona as Oderus Urungus, an alien warlord from the planet Scumdogia who would engage in provocative antics and spray fans with fake blood. Brockie remained an integral part of the band's creative output and live performances throughout their career, earning a dedicated following of fans who appreciated his irreverent humor and genre-bending music. Apart from his work with GWAR, Brockie also acted in film and television, and made several appearances as himself on various talk shows and documentaries.
