Zuleta was known for his contributions to the Vallenato music genre, which originated in the Caribbean region of Colombia. He began his career in music in the 1930s and gained national recognition in the 1940s with his classic song "La gota fría". Along with other renowned Vallenato musicians such as Rafael Escalona and Diomedes Diaz, Zuleta helped popularize the genre not only in Colombia, but also internationally.
