Francis Magalona

Francis Magalona (October 4, 1964 Mandaluyong-March 6, 2009 Philippines) also known as Francis Michael Durango Magalona, Francis M, Francis M., FM, Kiko, King of Pinoy Rap, Master Rapper, Father of Pinoy Hip-Hop, The Man From Manila, The Mouth, The Filipino King of Rap, FrancisM, Francis Durango Magalona, King of Rap or Hari ng Rap was a Filipino singer, record producer, songwriter, music video director, actor, photographer, presenter, entrepreneur and rapper. He had eight children, Maxene Magalona, Unna Magalona, Nicolo Magalona, Elmo Magalona, Arkin Magalona, Clara Magalona, Saab Magalona and Frank Magalona.

Francis Magalona is widely considered as the pioneer of Pinoy rap and hip-hop music in the Philippines. Aside from his successful music career, he also ventured into acting, starring in movies such as Ninja Kids and Okay Ka, Fairy Ko! The Movie. He was also a television host and presenter, hosting shows like Eat Bulaga and Pangarap na Bituin.

Magalona was also an advocate for environmental protection, public health, and nationalism. He wrote and produced songs that tackled social and political issues, such as "Mga Kababayan," "Ito Ang Gusto Ko," and "Kaleidoscope World." He also initiated the "Himig Natin" movement that promoted Original Pinoy Music (OPM) during the 1990s.

Unfortunately, Francis Magalona passed away in March of 2009, at the age of 44, due to complications from leukemia. However, his legacy as the Father of Pinoy Hip-Hop and a cultural icon in the Philippines, continues to inspire and influence many aspiring artists in the country.
