Orestis Laskos

Orestis Laskos (November 11, 1907 Eleusis-October 17, 1992 Athens) a.k.a. Vern Slove was a Greek screenwriter, film director and actor. He had one child, Vassilis Laskos.

Laskos began his career as a screenwriter and wrote the scripts for several popular Greek films in the 1930s and 1940s. He later moved on to directing and made his directorial debut with the film "To Traino sto Rouf" in 1958. He became known for his socially conscious films and his ability to capture the struggles of ordinary people. Some of his notable films include "Kapetan Michalis" (1955), "Evdokia" (1971) and "The Failure" (1980).

In addition to his work in film, Laskos was also a talented actor and appeared in several Greek productions. He was a founding member of the Greek Actors' Union and served as its first president. Laskos was widely recognized for his contributions to Greek cinema and was the recipient of many awards, including the Golden Phoenix at the Thessaloniki International Film Festival in 1969.
