Shobana is a trained Bharatanatyam dancer and has been performing since the age of 13. She has won several awards for her performances including the prestigious Padma Shri and Padma Bhushan awards in 2006 and 2021, respectively. Apart from Bharatanatyam, she has also learnt other dance forms like Mohiniyattam, Kathakali and Manipuri.
