Mohammad Mohammad Sadeq al-Sadr (March 23, 1941 Kadhimiya-February 19, 1999 Najaf) also known as Ayatollah Mohammad Mohammad Sadeq al-Sadr or Mohammad Sadeq al-Sadr was an Iraqi personality. He had one child, Muqtada al-Sadr.

Mohammad Mohammad Sadeq al-Sadr was an Iraqi Shia cleric, philosopher, and political leader. He was born on March 23, 1941, in Kadhimiya, Iraq. He contributed significantly to the progress of Shia Islam and was known for his efforts to promote Islamic unity.

Sadr founded several seminaries and libraries and played a vital role in Iraqi and regional politics. He opposed Saddam Hussein's dictatorship and organized a Shia opposition party called the Supreme Council for the Islamic Revolution in Iraq (SCIRI).

Sadr was known for his outspokenness on issues like social justice, human rights, and democracy. He taught that Muslims should not only care about their own salvation but also strive to create a just society for all people.

Unfortunately, his leadership and beliefs led to his assassination in 1999 in Najaf, a city in Iraq's holy Shia heartland. The perpetrators of the crime were never brought to justice. Sadr's legacy continues to inspire many across the Shia Muslim world.
