She died in traffic collision.

Kiwako Taichi began her acting career in 1961 with the film "Night School." She quickly became a popular actress in Japan, earning critical acclaim for her roles in films such as "The Ballad of Narayama" (1983) and "Love Letter" (1985). In addition to her work in film, Taichi also appeared in numerous television dramas throughout the 80s and early 90s.

Tragically, on October 13th, 1992, Kiwako Taichi was killed in a car accident in Itō, Japan. She was only 48 years old at the time of her death.
