James Maina Boi (April 4, 1954-July 15, 2004) was a Kenyan personality.

He was a renowned athlete and marathon runner, best known for his remarkable performance in winning the 1987 Honolulu Marathon. Boi was born in the town of Muranga, Kenya, and began running during his childhood as a means of transportation. He pursued athletics professionally and joined some of the most prestigious running teams in the country, such as the Kenya Police and Prisons Athletics Club.

During his career, Boi participated in many international competitions, and his achievements include winning the 1986 Singapore Marathon and 1987 Toronto Marathon, besides earning a top-five finish in the Boston Marathon three times. He retired from professional running in the early 1990s and later became a coach at his former alma mater, Kenyatta University, where he nurtured and mentored upcoming athletes.

Boi had a reputation as a dedicated runner with exemplary sportsmanship, and his legacy still inspires many Kenyan athletes. He was married and had a daughter, who currently lives in the United States. Boi passed away in 2004 due to a heart attack while on a coaching trip with one of his students.
