Joseph Buloff

Joseph Buloff (January 20, 1899 Vilnius-February 27, 1985 New York City) a.k.a. Józef Bulow or Josef Buloff was a Lithuanian actor. He had one child, Barbara Buloff.

Buloff began his acting career in Warsaw, Poland in the early 1920s, where he performed in Yiddish theater. In the 1930s, he moved to Paris to continue his acting career, but fled to the United States during World War II.

Buloff made his Broadway debut in 1948, starring in the original production of "The Inspector General," and went on to perform in many productions over the course of his career. He was known for his portrayals of Tevye in "Fiddler on the Roof" and Estragon in "Waiting for Godot."

In addition to his work on stage, Buloff appeared in several films, including "The Diary of Anne Frank" and "The Great White Hope." He also appeared on numerous television shows, including "The Patty Duke Show" and "Kojak."

Buloff was highly regarded in the Yiddish theater community and was a recipient of the prestigious Obie Award for his lifetime achievements in theater.
