He began his acting career in the 1950s and appeared in over 100 films and television shows throughout his career. He is perhaps best known for his role as the knife-throwing assassin in the classic 1961 Mexican film "Y tu mamá también".

Cobo was also involved in the Mexican theater scene, performing in plays such as "The Skin of Our Teeth" and "Hamlet". He was a versatile actor, able to tackle comedic and dramatic roles with equal ease.

Despite his success as an actor, Cobo struggled with personal demons throughout his life, including drug addiction and alcoholism. He passed away in 2002 at the age of 72.
