His children are Yulia Kuryokhina, Elizaveta Kuryokhina and Fedor Kuryokhin.

Sergey Kuryokhin was widely known for his experimental style of music and avant-garde performances. His work as a film score composer includes the scores for the movies Taxi Blues and A Friend of the Deceased. Kuryokhin was also known for his acting, with roles in the films Assa and Dvadtsat dney bez voyny. He was posthumously awarded the title of People's Artist of Russia in 1997. Kuryokhin's influence on Russian culture and music continues to be felt to this day.
