Chatichai Choonhavan

Chatichai Choonhavan (April 5, 1920 Bangkok-May 6, 1998 London) was a Thai personality. His child is Kraisak Choonhavan.

Chatichai Choonhavan was a leading Thai politician who served as the Prime Minister of Thailand for two non-consecutive terms. He first held the position from 1988 to 1991, and then again from 1992 to 1995. Chatichai was known for his pro-business policies and his efforts to liberalize the Thai economy. During his tenure as Prime Minister, he oversaw the privatization of many state-owned enterprises and encouraged foreign investment in the country. However, his government was plagued by allegations of corruption, and he was ultimately removed from office in a military coup in 1991. Despite this setback, Chatichai remained active in politics and was re-elected as Prime Minister in 1992. He continued to pursue economic reforms during his second term, but his government was once again the subject of corruption scandals, and he was forced to resign in 1995. Chatichai died in London in 1998 at the age of 78.
