Leon Wesley Walls
Leon Wesley Walls (July 30, 1957 Cincinnati-) otherwise known as Leon Walls or Wes is an American singer, singer-songwriter, actor and guitarist.
He is best known for his work as the lead singer and guitarist for the rock band The Black Keys. Walls formed The Black Keys in 2001 with drummer Patrick Carney and the duo gained critical acclaim for their blues-influenced garage rock sound. The band went on to release several successful albums, including Attack & Release and Brothers, which won the Grammy Award for Best Alternative Music Album in 2011.
Aside from his work with The Black Keys, Walls has also released solo albums and collaborated with other artists such as Danger Mouse and Dan Auerbach. Walls has also made several appearances in films and television shows, including an episode of CBS's CSI: Crime Scene Investigation.
Walls has been praised for his unique vocal style and guitar playing abilities, drawing comparisons to blues legends such as Robert Johnson and Howlin' Wolf. Steve Porcaro
Steve Porcaro (September 2, 1957 Hartford-) a.k.a. Steven Maxwell Porcaro, Porcaro, Steve, Steven Maxwell "Steve" Porcaro or Steve Parcaro is an American songwriter, keyboard player and composer.
Porcaro is best known for his work with the band Toto, which he co-founded alongside his brothers Jeff and Mike Porcaro. He was a keyboardist and songwriter for the band and contributed to some of their biggest hits, including "Rosanna" and "Africa." Porcaro has also written songs for other artists such as Michael Jackson, Madonna, and Julio Iglesias. He has received multiple Grammy nominations for his work, including for his contributions to the soundtrack of Disney's animated film, The Lion King. In addition to his music career, Porcaro has also scored music for films and TV shows, including Justified and The Finder. He continues to work in the music industry, both as a performer and a composer.
Porcaro was born and raised in Hartford, Connecticut, and comes from a musical family. His father, Joe Porcaro, was a percussionist with the likes of Frank Sinatra and Stan Getz. Steve and his brothers grew up playing music together, and formed Toto in 1976. Besides his keyboard work, Porcaro is also a skilled programmer and has worked with synthesizers and other electronic instruments.
Porcaro has collaborated with some of the biggest names in the music industry. He co-wrote "Human Nature" and "The Girl is Mine" for Michael Jackson's seminal album, Thriller. Despite Toto's ups and downs over the years, Porcaro remains an essential part of the band. He has continued to record and tour with the group, and they remain a popular live act around the world.
In addition to his work with Toto and other artists, Porcaro has also scored music for numerous films and TV shows, including the crime drama Justified and the comedy-drama series The Finder. He received an Emmy nomination for his work on Justified in 2011. Porcaro has also worked as a music educator and has given lectures on film scoring and music technology at universities and schools around the world.
Porcaro has been recognized for his contributions to the music industry, including being inducted into the Musicians Hall of Fame in 2009 along with his Toto bandmates. In 2020, he was presented with the Lifetime Achievement Award at the Satellite Awards for his work in film and television music.
Outside of music, Porcaro is a philanthropist and co-founded the Steve Porcaro Music Foundation, which provides music education opportunities to underserved youth in the Los Angeles area. He is also an advocate for animal rights and supports various animal welfare organizations.
