Fred Child (March 30, 1963 Huntsville-) is an American musician.

He is best known as the host of NPR's classical music program Performance Today. Child studied classical music at the Eastman School of Music and bassoon performance at the Tanglewood Music Center. Before joining NPR, he worked at classical music radio stations across the United States, including WFMT in Chicago and KUSC in Los Angeles. In addition to hosting Performance Today, Child is also a frequent moderator and host at classical music festivals and events. He has received numerous honors for his contributions to classical music broadcasting, including a Peabody Award in 2008.
