Siegfried Landau

Siegfried Landau (September 4, 1921 Berlin-February 20, 2007 Brushton) was an American conductor.

His albums include Rachmaninoff: Piano Concerto no. 2 / Grieg: Piano Concerto.

Throughout his career, Siegfried Landau conducted major orchestras in cities including Berlin, Vienna, and Jerusalem. After fleeing Nazi Germany in 1933, he settled in Palestine (now Israel) and began conducting there. He later became the resident conductor of the Israel Philharmonic Orchestra. In 1950, he moved to the United States and became a citizen. He conducted several American orchestras and served as the music director of the Dallas Symphony Orchestra from 1958 to 1961. He was also a highly regarded music educator and taught at various universities including the University of Miami and the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Siegfried Landau passed away at the age of 85 in Brushton, New York.
