John Meillon was born in Mosman, New South Wales, Australia in 1934. He attended the Sydney Boys High School, and after graduating, he pursued a career in acting. Meillon made his stage debut in 1951 with the Independent Theatre Company in Sydney. He went on to perform in various stage productions, including the Australian production of "A Streetcar Named Desire" in 1957.
Meillon made his film debut in the 1959 film "On the Beach," and he went on to appear in over 100 film and television productions throughout his career. He is perhaps best known for his roles in the films "Crocodile Dundee" (1986) and "The Sundowners" (1960).
